Why run a pub quiz
Why run a pub quiz?
Main reason; To attract more people into your pub of course! Especially on an otherwise quiet night, and especially during these hard times. GOOD PUB QUIZZES REALLY DO WORK.
With Quiz Express, you can attract a whole new clientele, all for less cost than a couple of pints! We strive to provide an entertaining & varied quiz night, with something for everyone, and giving everyone a chance to win.

Get bums on seats
Pub quizzes are a straight forward, cheap and popular way in which to get people back into your pub. .
We know they don't always work for all pubs but some of the reasons we have heard for NOT running a quiz are quite frankly 'lame, lame, lame!' At the cost of just £48.00 (12 WEEKS worth of Quiz Express quizzes), why on earth NOT give it a go? We've said 12 weeks, as realistically if just starting up, you'd need to 'allow' this amount of time for your advertising efforts to pay off and for word to get out. If you have an established quiz night already but need new and better quizzes, a single quiz is just £4.00+VAT. (Anyone can buy as few or as many as they want.)
And please don't fall into the trap of letting the winning quiz team set the quiz for the following week, OR set the questions yourself (unless you really do know what you're doing and have plenty of time on your hands.) We have been compiling pub quizzes for many years, and our experience provides a really polished product. We don't just throw our questions together! All our questions are fully researched, and aimed at testing knowledge but most improtantly providing an evening of entertainment and fun. We take the fun element very seriously!
Finally, if you are thinking of giving quiz nights a go to help increase your cash-flow...ban the use of mobiles, iphones & blackberrys etc. No one likes to be cheated out of a winning position. Make your teams turn off their phones and surrender them into the middle of the table in a 'park your phone pot' (they can make a call giving a babysitter for instance the number of the pub.) In addition, you could enroll a vigilent member of staff as patrolling 'Cheat Checker' - anyone caught cheating gets instantly disqualified & preferably humiliated in some way. Make them wear a hat or printed t.shirt, or buy everyone in the pub a pint.
Bring them in with roll-over cash prizes
Running a 5 minute accumulator quiz at the end of the main quiz can be a hugely successful way to attract more people to the quiz and get them back week after week.
Several years ago, we used to run the pub quiz for Roy at The Eagle on Shooters Hill in London. His 'Lucky 13 Quiz' became so popular there was hardly room to move in the pub.
Currently The WhiteHouse Inn in Penhallow, Cornwall runs a 'Dead or Alive' accumulator quiz after the main quiz every Friday night. Word certainly gets around fast when they are advertising the prize standing at sums such as £450.00. Without a doubt this has increased customers and therefore sales.
Do it on the table!
If your pub's layout is awkard for a quiz night (several small rooms for instance) then run the tabletop version of our quizzes - where the questions are laid out with spaces for teams to write the answers and hand in for scoring. This also works well during the summer months when customers are sitting at tables outside.
