Our favourite quiz reference books

Our favourite books for reference and research when writing pub quizzes. We wouldn't be without them.

Please note: We write our own questions at Quiz Express so the books we use do not contain quiz 'questions and answers' to simply be copied.

Pears Ultimate Quiz Companion Pears Ultimate Quiz Companion
Great reference work covering a very wide range of subjects, which provide excellent inspiration. By Jim Hensman.
The book of numbers The Book of Numbers
A wealth of often bazaar figure-related facts. Great for writing tie-break questions but cross referencing is often a bit of a game. By William Hartston.
A-Z of Almost Everything An A-Z of Everything
A really comprehensive compendium from Abbreviations to Zip Codes. Again, really good for inspiration and always proves factual. By Trevor Montague.
Does Anything Eat Wasps Does Anything Eat Wasps?
Lists questions and answers from New Scientist readers. 'Knotty puzzles from everyday' are answered from people all over the world. The book is a really good read and is the encouragement behind some of our more wackier science questions.
This Book This Book...of More Perfectly Useless Information
An absolute treaure trove of interesting facts to enthuse great question setting. By Mitchell Symons.
Dangerous Book for Boys The Dangerous Book for Boys
We initially purchased this book because we have two little boys who we'd like to see grow up interested in 'How to build a tree house', 'Making crystals' & 'Famous battles' for instance. Until they learn to read, it remains on our office shelves as a great reference book for writing quiz questions.
